Models: 2 different Era III express train service compartment cars. The handrails on the entry doors are separately applied, and ladders are separately applied on the ends of the cars. The cars have built-in interior details. The cars have NEM coupler pockets and close coupler mechanisms. Car set length 512 mm / 20-3/16.
Faster Passenger Flow - The German State Railroad Company (DRG) required fast, efficient cars for use in the Ruhr express service, cars that would allow it to master the expected passenger volumes. In addition, these cars had to fulfill the technical conceptions at the start of the 1930s. As far back as then the question was intensively debated whether locomotive hauled trains or powered rail cars would be preferable. The German State Railroad had special passenger cars developed in 1933 in order to clarify this question. These cars differed markedly from previous designs. Like the passengers ordered since 1930 for main lines, they were equipped with trucks and open vestibules with crossover plates, but they were equipped with a large number of side doors instead of large end entries to speed up the flow of passengers. This had already been done before with the earlier compartment cars. These cars were still in use on both state railroads in divided postwar Germany, i.e. also on the German State Railroad (DR) in former East Germany.
